The general courses help you improve on all aspects of the English language, while the conversation courses focus on the speaking aspect only. I had 1:1 classes and I highly recommend my teacher Joshua: after an assessment of my level of Dutch, Joshua has actively listened and understood my goals. Joshua has been able to tailor and customize lessons specifically on my needs. I appreciated Joshua’s competence, empathy, patience and care throughout all lessons. Our intensive English summer courses cover the CEFR levels from the A0 level up to the B2 level.

English For levels up to B1

Whether you’re a beginner or a more advanced learner, we offer intensive English courses for almost all levels. From A0 up to B2. Our levels are based on the CEFR, the European standard. Therefore, the levels are internationally recognised. Learn more about the CEFR levels on this page.

You go from one level to another within one course. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of participation.

Small groups, Personal approach

Compared with many other language schools, our group courses always have a small group size (maximum 8 students). This way we can guarantee a personal approach, so you can make the most progress.

Our intensive English conversation courses help you improve your English speaking skills. The focus is on speaking, fluency, pronunciation, and building confidence in real-life conversations. In these fun and interactive courses you’ll practise a lot in small groups and learn in a relaxed and motivating environment.

Our intensive English conversation courses can be taken by people with an English level from A2 up to the C1.

Improve your speaking skills

Our intensive English conversation courses are all about speaking English with confidence. In every lesson, you discuss different topics guided by a native English teacher. You practise real-life conversations, improve your fluency, and expand your vocabulary.

The focus is on speaking as much as possible in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You’ll learn in small groups, so everyone gets plenty of time to talk. These courses are perfect if you already know some English and want to speak it more naturally.

When are the intensive English courses given?

Our intensive English group courses are given in the summer period, in July and August. The intensive English group courses take 2 weeks.

How do I know which English level is right for me?

You can book a free level test with us. One of our teachers will assess your current level and recommend the course that fits you best.
This way, you’ll always join a group that matches your abilities and goals.

How many students are in each group?

Our groups are small and personal, with a maximum of 8 students per class. This allows our teachers to give you plenty of attention and ensures that everyone gets to speak and participate actively.

Where do the intensive English group courses take place?

We offer our intensive English group courses at our location in Amsterdam.

We have two locations in Amsterdam: one at the Rietwijkerstraat 10 and one at the Frederik Hendrikplantsoen 98. English group courses are given at the location at Rietwijkerstraat 10. But both locations are close to the city center, easily accessible by public transport.

Can I take the intensive English course online instead of in Amsterdam?

Unfortunately not. The intensive English courses are only given at our location in Amsterdam. If you want to take lessons online instead, you can consider taking English private lessons.

How long does an intensive English group course last?

The intensive English courses have a duration of 2 weeks. The classes of intensive courses take 3 hours each and are given 5 times a week.

Do I need to buy a book or learning materials?

With the general English courses we use a course book that you’ll need to purchase separately. For conversation courses no books are needed.

You can order the book through us or you can order the book yourself. In case you decide to order the book yourself, you’ll receive all the information about which book to buy.

But our classes our very interactive and you won’t just learn from the book. We also use extra interactive exercises and handouts provided by your teacher.

What happens after I complete the course?

After finishing your course, you’ll receive a certificate of participation (if you participated in at least 75% of the lessons) and you can continue with the next level (for example, from A1 to A2).
Our teachers can advise you on the best follow-up course to keep improving your English.

Are the teachers native speakers?

Yes!
All our English teachers are native speakers with extensive experience teaching English to Dutch people and internationals.
They make the lessons engaging, personal, and practical. Above all focusing on real-life communication and a relaxed classroom atmosphere.

Can I join if I’ve already studied some English before?

Of course.
If you already know some English, simply book a free level test.
We’ll determine your current level and place you in the right group, so you can continue learning from where you left off.

Can I get a student visa when I sign up for a course at Language Corner?

In The Netherlands you can only obtain a student visa if you are enrolled at a university or college. So unfortunately it’s not possible to get a student visa based on a language course at Language Corner.

If you only need a tourist visa, we can send you visa supporting documents. This contains a booking confirmation and invitation letter. We charge a non-refundable fee of € 25,00 for this service. Furthermore, you need to pay for the enrolment and the visa supporting documents upfront.

Can I pay in multiple instalments for the English courses?

In some cases this is possible. So please contact our staff to ask for the possibilities.

Can the invoice be sent to my employer or company?

Yes, this is possible. After registering, please contact our team so that we have all the necessary details to send the invoice to your employer or company.
