About the teaching approach of Language Corner
At Language Corner, learning a language should feel practical, engaging and enjoyable. Our lessons focus on real-life communication, so you can start using the language with confidence from day one. We create a positive and supportive atmosphere where making mistakes is part of the learning process. This approach helps you progress naturally, whether you learn in a group, one-on-one or with your colleagues.
Immersive learning
Our immersive method helps you learn faster by actively using the language in real-life contexts from day one. All lessons are taught in the language you are learning. From day one, you actively use the language in practical situations, building confidence and fluency step by step.
Clear structure and recognised CEFR levels
To make sure you always know where you stand, all our courses follow the CEFR levels, from beginner to advanced. This European framework gives structure to your learning path and makes your progress clear and internationally recognised.

The history of Language Corner
Language Corner is founded by Isabel Contreras and Eric van Heesen in 2015. After being an English teacher for 5 years in Chile, Isabel moved to Amsterdam where she soon started giving English lessons to Spanish speaking people.
When more students came in, Language Corner was born. Because of the Dutch background of Eric and Latin background of Isabel, was decided to focus on the languages English, Dutch & Spanish.
For the first students ‘feeling comfortable’ was one of the major reasons to choose for the cozy atmosphere of Language Corner. Some years later, Language Corner has over 35 teachers and two locations in Amsterdam. But we still want to give our students that comfortable and personal feeling. Because every person has a different goal to learn a language.
Based in Amsterdam
Language Corner is based in Amsterdam, a truly international city where learning the local language helps you feel more at home. We welcome students from all over the world who want to improve their Dutch, English or Spanish while living, studying or working in the city.
Our courses can take place online or at our locations in Amsterdam. Whether you prefer learning in a small group or through private lessons, we offer flexible options that make it easy to combine language learning with daily life in Amsterdam.
