My name is Hattie, an American with a deep commitment to empowering individuals through education and connection. My academic background in sociology, with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, is driven by my passion for working with diverse groups of people and inspiring others to feel empowered.

When I arrived in the Netherlands over four years ago to attend the University of Amsterdam, I had the privilege of living in student housing with people from all around the world. Because we all spoke English, we were able to connect on such a deep level and learn so much more about parts of the world that we previously knew little about. These interactions were some of the most special experiences of my life. Through teaching English, I want to help others expand the number of people they can connect with, learn more about the world, and develop strong relationships with people from different cultures.

Outside of teaching, I love reading fantasy books, doing yoga, and visiting different cafés in Amsterdam for a good cup of coffee!
